Sam Beaubien is a Detroit artist, musician, producer, composer, and engineer whose work has long served as a bridge between the deep traditions of Detroit music and the boundary-pushing artists shaping its future.
As the founder and leader of Will Sessions, Sam has worked across generations and genres of the Detroit music scene — from being mentored by and collaborating with Motown musicians, to performing as a session musician for Detroit hip-hop icons including Slum Village and Eminem, to working alongside artists in jazz, electronic music, funk, soul, and garage rock. His dedication to Detroit’s creative community led to an 11-year role as Creative Producer at WDET Detroit Public Radio, where his music, production, and sonic identity work helped shape the sound of the station.
Sam’s compositions and production can be heard across collaborations with artists including J Dilla, Amp Fiddler, and Dez Andrés, as well as national campaigns for Detroit automotive manufacturers and other brands. Rooted in a deep respect for Detroit music’s history, Sam’s work is dedicated to preserving its traditions while carrying that legacy forward into new sounds, collaborations, and creative possibilities.
